Definition of Mission
The world wide enterprise of proclaiming the gospel of Christ, making disciples and relating to the whole need of mankind, both spiritual and physical, beyond the immediate borders of the Chartwell congregations.

Mission Statement
Under God’s enablement and guidance, the Mission Team seeks to carry out the following mandate:
To motivate, equip and mobilize the Chartwell community of believers into a God-centred service of prayer, compassionate evangelism, discipleship and mutual caring for one another both at home and abroad.

Vision Statement

To help us fulfil our “mission” we will adopt the following strategies:
  • Develop a strong base of prayer support.
  • Through a process of education, develop a global mission awareness in our congregations.
  • In assessing opportunities for new ministry, be aware of the world’s unreached people groups, particularly those within the “10-40 window”.
  • Mobilize and facilitate youth and adults into short term or career missionary opportunities.
  • Encourage opportunities for cross cultural ministry at home.
  • Seek opportunities, where suitable, to partner with other strategic Christian institutions, agencies and national churches and individuals.  Particular emphasis will be given to those endeavours which directly contribute to the growth of strong national churches.  Supported missionaries will be encouraged to be sensitive to opportunities for such partnerships.
  • Encourage and facilitate tent making opportunities in limited access countries.
  • Engage the resources of the Chartwell community of believers into opportunities for compassionate evangelism both at home and abroad.
  • Provide encouragement and support to each of our missionaries and to be a liaison between them and the Chartwell community.  Encourage visits to our missionaries in their field of ministry.
  • Implement a process for regular review and evaluation of all the Chartwell supported missionaries.

Scriptural Basis for Chartwell Baptist Church’s Involvement in Missions
God’s will for His church as expressed in the Scriptures provides the basis and motivation for the local congregations of Chartwell Baptist Church to reach out to a lost and hurting  world in response to the following:
  1. To fulfil the Great Commission of Christ to make disciples throughout the world.  (Matt 9: 35-38;  28: 18-20;  John 4:  35-38;  20: 21;  Acts 1: 8)
  2. To demonstrate Christ’s compassionate heart to those in need.  (Deut. 15:7-11; Isaiah 58: 5-11;  61:1-2;  Matt.25: 31-46)
  3. To reach the spiritually lost.  (Matt. 18: 10-14)
  4. To encourage personal evangelism through relationship.  (1 Cor. 9: 19-23)
  5. To mobilize our resources so that all can hear and understand the gospel (good news) in their own language. (Rom. 10: 13-15)
